This beautiful, sculptural lamp depicts the famous veil dancer, Loïe Fuller in action. Originally from America, she lived in Paris and performed regularly at the Follies Bergère. (Wikipedia: Loïe Fuller)
The lamp was described as “One of the hallmarks of the French Art Nouveau” by the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, when shown in their 2008 exhibit: Rococo: The Continuing Curve.
